Las ancianas
Mercedes Esquina Sosof, 75. My father worked in agriculture for other people, local landowners. He earned 20 centavos a day, later 30 a day. I had seven children, four died, three survived. My husband also worked in the fields, working other people's corn.

I participated in the cofradia. San Antonio, San Juan, Santiago, and Maximon (cofradial orders). People left money with the idols and we could get some money that way. I wasted my life with those idols. (Mercedes is now part of an evangelical church and the people interpreting were also part of the church, thus the statement rejecting cofradia.)
