Changing the culture
Walter Adams (standing in the tan sweatshirt) is a 3rd generation coffee grower in Guatemala who farms 185 hectares of coffee and macadamia nuts on Oriflama Farm, in the mountains just south of the Mexican border. Here, he is running a workshop for his workers to apply for leadership positions on the farm. He encourages the women to attend, and says he actually prefers women as supervisors because they don't bring with them the old Latin American tradition of poor treatment of workers, as many men do.
