Twilight: Farm Aid’s board members John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Neil Young performed as evening fell, with Willie Nelson and family closing up the concert that had featured more than a dozen other acts from Southern blues rockers the Allman Brothers Band to the Ditty Bops, a two-woman acoustic duo who did a U.S. farm tour on their way to Farm Aid.

Besides serving up local, sustainably produced food to the crowd of 25,000, all vendors used compostable containers. Farm Aid volunteers at every refuse station made sure the right items went into the right receptacles. Very impressive!
